In 1986 Burbank was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. It was built in 1936 with an addition in 1966. Today the Russet Burbank potato is the most widely cultivated potato in the United States.
Luther Burbank (7 March 1849 – 11 April 1926) was an American botanist horticulturist and a pioneer in agricultural science. Burbank's varied creations included fruits flowers grains grasses and vegetables.
